Komyo ReikiDo is more than a hands-on healing art. It is a practice meant first and foremost to be a spiritual way or path for personal enrichment and enlightenment, with the enhanced hands-on healing ability as an outgrowth of that inner working. The teachings are on Reiki practice as a gateway to spiritual awakening, leading to Satori (enlightenment).

Komyo ReikiDo follows the teachings of Usui Sensei and focuses on healing not only the body, but most importantly, the soul or spirit. Usui Sensei believed that with spiritual improvement, the body would naturally be better capable of healing itself. Inamoto Sensei shares this belief.

Komyo ReikiDo, the system Hyakuten Inamoto created after considerable research, presents Reiki as it was understood and commonly practiced in the 1920’s and 1930’s in Japan. This system places emphasis on spiritual unfoldment through the practice of Reiki Ryoho, aiming for ‘Satori’ or enlightenment.

As the practice of Reiki Ryoho was introduced to the west from Japan many branches or schools developed, some with very complicated techniques that have little to do with the original practice.

Reiki Ryoho is actually a very simple technique. So simple that many have a difficult time understanding that something so simple can be so effective. As a result, additional techniques and modalities have been added on to the practice.

There are four levels in the Komyo ReikiDo system: Shoden, Chuden, Okuden, and Shinpiden (Teacher/Shihan).

Simply known as Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4, the focus of the first two levels is more on developing the therapeutic aspects of Reiki. The last two focuses more on developing the spiritual aspects.

  • Shoden (First Level) – Focus is primarily on self-healing, the family and friends, health and happiness, as well as treating others, and on learning how to practice ‘non-attachment.’
  • Chuden (Second Level) – the focus is on helping others through distant healing and helps the student become more aware of the concept of ‘non-duality’ and of their connection to and impact upon the world around them. Instruction is given on Japanese techniques, three of the four symbols, and distance healing.

Often it seems, students come to Komyo ReikiDo after studying one western style or another. Niki has not found this in her experience. She has observed some to be hesitant to learn something that their friends have not heard of, learned nor practiced. Then again, many are content with where their practice is currently.

Pre and Post pandemic, some have been led to Komyo ReikiDo as their first introduction to Reiki and to Niki as their Shihan.  KRD has been introduced around the world, as Sensei Inamoto continues to be invited to train, share and certify students to their levels. To be a Shihan takes time with very specific requirements. In 2012, Niki Klein became the 4th Shihan in Canada.

From the Chuden level, students from the Asian/Pacific area and North/South America are invited to join Sensei monthly on Zoom.

Previous Chuden students may contact the academy about further KRD studies. Know you are always welcome to retake your levels at a significantly reduced tuition. Reiki Gatherings/Shares/Circles are regularly provided.

An ‘Introduction to Reiki’ on Zoom is provided on a regular basis at no charge. Sign up and enjoy.
